A New Educational Space for the School of Superheroes Opens in Rivne
22.07.2024
The educational center of the School of Superheroes at the Rivne Regional Children's Hospital has already
held its first
lessons, welcoming 11 young patients, including preschoolers and high school students.
The opening of the educational space was funded by the Olena Zelenska Foundation. The new center consists of
two
classrooms and a creative playroom, totaling 72.9 square meters. Lessons will now be held here for primary,
middle, and
high school students, as well as preschoolers. The classrooms are equipped according to the School of
Superheroes’
standards—ergonomic furniture, interactive boards, and a mental health room. Tablets and school supplies are
available
to ensure a comfortable and effective learning process.
"The School of Superheroes is a project close to our team's heart. Since 2021, it has been operating under
the patronage
of the First Lady. One of the key missions of our Foundation is to provide access to education for Ukrainian
children
under any circumstances. This year, we funded the opening of six new centers across Ukraine so that even
more children
can continue their education while receiving medical treatment. I want to thank the entire team for
inspiring us daily
with their energy, readiness to act, and passion for their work," commented Nina Horbachova, Director of the
Olena
Zelenska Foundation.
The educational center in Rivne officially began its work in late April 2024, even while renovations were
still
underway. Teachers started conducting lessons in hospital rooms and wards to get to know the students and
assess their
individual educational needs. Since then, over 50 children have become students of the Rivne School of
Superheroes, and
more than 500 lessons have been conducted.
Currently, the team includes a head teacher, a caregiver, a psychologist, and teachers of Ukrainian language
and
literature, history, and English. Additional subject teachers will join the team by the start of the new
academic year.
"Each new center of the School of Superheroes is our pride. Behind every opening is a great deal of work,
but more
importantly, our belief in the children. Today, between painful medical procedures, they attend classes at
the School of
Superheroes. Tomorrow, after they are discharged, they will look back on joyful childhood moments. And
later, when they
return to regular schools, they will feel confident because the knowledge they gained at the School of
Superheroes will
be enough to continue their education. We, along with dozens of superheroes in Rivne, thank the Olena
Zelenska
Foundation for its support," said Nataliia Zhilinska, Director of the State Institution "School of
Superheroes."
Rivne is one of six new cities where educational spaces will be opened this year. Other centers funded by
the Olena
Zelenska Foundation will be established in Lviv, Poltava, Kryvyi Rih, Vinnytsia, and Odesa. Since 2021, the
School of
Superheroes has been operating under the patronage of First Lady Olena Zelenska.
