On October 28, 2021, the Government decided to establish the State Institution "School of Superheroes". To this end, a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine "On ensuring the organization of educational services for children who are in hospital treatment or who are provided with rehabilitation assistance" was adopted. According to the document, from January 1, 2022, the State Institution "School of Superheroes" was established with its attribution to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The same decision approved the charter of the State Institution and the procedure for providing educational services, other important constituent documents of the School.

Minister of Education and Science Serhiy Shkarlet in his commentary noted that the created state institution will ensure the continuity of relevant education and development of children regardless of their health. He also stressed that he is grateful to every volunteer and the NGO "Small Heart with Art", as well as to the 1 + 1 TV channel and the "Right to Education" project, which have been supporting children in hospitals for many years and providing them with the opportunity to gain knowledge. For the team of the School of Superheroes, which worked as a public initiative, and for its founder Yevheniia Smirnova, the decision of the Government is both a joyful event and the fruit of hard work, daily efforts, perseverance and patience, overcoming obstacles and faith that the goal will be achieved. The first lessons were held in the HIV department of the Kyiv hospital "Okhmatdyt". Subsequently, in 2017, a classroom was opened in the same department. It quickly became clear that children in other departments need similar classes and lessons. Therefore, in 2018, the Superheroes School was opened in the building of intensive and efferent therapy of acute intoxication. The hospital allocated a room for the classroom, and the repair work was carried out at the expense of sponsors. But the team did not stop there and in 2019 the School of Superheroes presented a social franchise that will create a network of schools in all regions of Ukraine, which will provide access to education for more than 30 thousand children who are constantly in hospitals and do not have the opportunity to attend school at their place of residence.

Today, the Superheroes School works in hospitals in Zhytomyr, Dnipro, Khmelnytskyi and Kherson. Recently, the team of the School and like-minded colleagues organized and held a Pro Bono Hackathon - an event where they discussed the problems and ways to solve the issues of interaction between the hospital school and the school at the place of registration of the child. This path would not have been possible without the help of our partners, sponsors, teachers and volunteers.
