The educational space of the School of Superheroes in Poltava is now open.
22.01.2025
With full funding from the Olena Zelenska Foundation, a modern educational space has been established in
the Children’s
City Hospital—the first and only one of its kind in the region. It allows young patients to continue
their education
while also providing a welcome distraction from exhausting medical procedures.
On almost 100 square meters, the space includes a preschool classroom, rooms for students in grades 1–4
and 5–11, and a
mental health room. A team of specialists works with the superheroes, including a methodologist,
psychologist, teachers
of 10 subjects, an educator, and a primary school teacher
One of these teachers, Tamara Kushko, meets the youngest students in the classroom. Once upon a time,
she and her son
had to spend years in this very hospital. Often, with regret, she would ask, "Why don’t they create a
school in the
hospital?" At the time, such an idea seemed like an unattainable dream. For six consecutive years, Mrs.
Tamara worked
tirelessly to help her son catch up on missed schoolwork at home.
Her son eventually recovered. Many years passed, and Mrs. Tamara had to look for a new job. Today, the
educational
center of the School of Superheroes in Poltava has become her new workplace.
The Poltava educational center team began their work in September 2024, teaching in hospital rooms while
waiting for
renovation work to be completed. During this time, they have already conducted nearly 1,000 lessons.
This year, in partnership with the Olena Zelenska Foundation, we plan to open at least six more
educational centers of
the School of Superheroes in Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Lutsk, Chernivtsi, Ternopil, and Mukachevo, as well as
restore the
center at "Okhmatdyt."
