A new branch of the School of Superheroes has opened in Chernihiv
05.09.2025
Before the start of the new school year, a new educational center of the state institution “School of
Superheroes” was
opened in Chernihiv.
Together with the superheroes, First Lady Olena Zelenska and the team of the Olena Zelenska Foundation
visited the new
classrooms.
The new educational center was opened with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine
and the
Chernihiv Regional State Administration.
The center will provide educational services to children with special educational needs.
The opening of the space was made possible thanks to funding from the Olena Zelenska Foundation with the
support of the
international
partner
Portuguese Institute Camoes.
The Superhero School is a space where children in hospital can feel like ordinary schoolchildren rather than
patients.
Here, they don't
miss out on their education, communication, friends, and most importantly, the feeling of care and support.
In the
context of full-scale
war, this is
particularly important, because childhood should continue despite all challenges. For the Olena Zelenska
Foundation, it
is important
that such spaces appear
in every region of our country. And we are grateful to our international partners who, together with us,
give children
this opportunity," said Nina Gorbacheva, director of the Olena Zelenska Foundation.
Now, children undergoing treatment at the regional hospital will be able to study in comfortable conditions.
Almost 100
square meters of space in the pediatric ward have been converted into two classrooms—for elementary, middle,
and
high school students—
as well as a mental health room. A separate space has been set aside for classes with preschoolers.
The educational center team began working in early March. They taught in hospital wards and rooms.
During this time,
more than 350 children became students of the School of Superheroes, and 4,000 classes were held. Now they
all have a
real place of
power.
Today, Artem visited for the first time. He has been familiar with the School of Superheroes for 89 days.
During the
time the
School has been operating, he
has been hospitalized three times, and the teachers have become true friends to him.
"The opening of the educational space was a real gift for our children. We thank our partners for their
support
and faith in
our children. Hospital walls are a real challenge, but now they have a place where they can come and get
positive
emotions, support, and knowledge,“ said Natalia Zhilinska, director of the state institution ”School of
Superheroes."
Today, 20 educational spaces of the School of Superheroes are operating in Ukraine. Three of them are new —
in
Chernihiv, Lutsk, and Cherkasy.
They, with the funding of the Olena Zelenska Foundation, started working at the beginning of the school year
with the support of
Фундації. By the end of the year,
three more spaces are planned to open.
