Psychological Support: A Path Walked Together by Superheroes and Teachers

With the onset of the full-scale invasion, psychological support became a key focus for the state
institution "School of
Superheroes." The teaching staff of the educational center located at the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Medical
Center for
Socially Significant Diseases shared their invaluable experience and a remarkable story.
Brothers Kostia and Zhenia are now graduates of the School of Superheroes. Today, they are active boys who
enjoy
playing, learning new things, and exploring the world with smiles on their faces. But just six months ago,
the situation
was entirely different.
The behavior of the boys, aged 4 and 6, initially shocked the teachers and educators at the School of
Superheroes. It
was evident that they needed help, as they barely spoke for their age, threw toys, fought, and ignored
adults.
“The correction process lasted over four months and included an individualized program involving a
psychologist, an
educator, and an assistant. Sensory integration, behavioral, music, and art therapy, articulation and neuro-
exercises,
active games, and speech development were all part of the comprehensive approach. This holistic strategy
became a
turning point in their socialization: aggression disappeared, they gained spatial awareness and balance,”
shared Irina
Taranenko, an educator at the center.
A key factor was the involvement of the boys' mother, who actively worked on interaction rules and conscious
parenting.
The teaching staff remains in contact with the family and is always ready to offer support.
This story highlights that miracles happen at the School of Superheroes when one confidently strives to make
them a
reality.
