For the First Time Offline! III All-Ukrainian Conference of Hospital Teachers
For the First Time Offline! III All-Ukrainian Conference of Hospital Teachers
11.08.2023
On August 10-11, the main event of the year for the entire "School of Superheroes" team
took place—the conference of
hospital teachers titled "Treatment and Rehabilitation as Time for Educational Opportunities." In
previous years, the
event was held online, but this year colleagues from11 educational
centersfinally met in person in Kyiv, in a friendly
atmosphere of like-minded individuals equally passionate about their work.
The event was supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Democracy Promotion
Fund of the U.S.
Embassy in Ukraine, the public organization Small Heart with Art, the state scientific institution
"Institute of
Education Content Modernization," the Resource Center for Inclusive Education Support, the Department of
Preschool
Education of Vinnytsia State Pedagogical University named after M. Kotsyubynsky, the Ukrainian
Scientific and
Methodological Center for Practical Psychology and Social Work of the National Academy of Pedagogical
Sciences of
Ukraine, and others.
Notably, the event was attended by Yevhenia Smirnova, Deputy
Minister of Education and Science of
Ukraine and founder of
the "School of Superheroes," along with members of the supervisory board of the state institution:
Natalia Moseichuk,
Liliya Hrynevych, Liudmyla Sokur, and Olena Parfonova.
Besides fostering new connections among colleagues, partners, and friends of the "School of
Superheroes," the two-day
conference was productive in exchanging valuable experiences. Educators shared innovative methods and
practices for
teaching children undergoing treatment. Invited guests from leading scientific institutions and the
Ministry of
Education and Science discussed the latest ideas and innovations in the country's educational process.
Special attention was given to thetopic of psychological support
for the superheroes, as well as
working with teams and
parents in crisis situations and during the war.
The second day of the conference was dedicated to strategic
planning.
Discussions focused on the
development and
expansion of the "School of Superheroes" network and the creation of even higher quality educational
services for every
child in the hospital.
Children change, and accordingly, their perceptions, needs, and the circumstances in which they
learn also change.
Teachers must respond promptly to these changes, maintain children's attention, and meet modern
trends. This is the key
to children's success and a global educational trend. The war imposes many restrictions. But I am
glad that this year
teachers working in hospitals could meet offline in Kyiv to exchange experiences and best practices
developed over the
past year. The III All-Ukrainian Conference of Hospital Teachers, which I attended, became a
platform for sharing best
techniques and live communication among specialists from various parts of Ukraine—resilient Kharkiv
and Mykolaiv, Dnipro
and Lviv, Zhytomyr and Kyiv, Khmelnytskyi and Boyarka. The practices presented during the event are
implemented in the
daily work of specialists and can serve as examples for many educational institutions. I believe
that the experience
gained by teachers in hospitals will spread to other educational institutions because a child in the
hospital cannot be
forced to study; they can only be inspired to love learning and the world of knowledge. This is what
all educators
should strive for: whether the child is learning in a hospital, kindergarten, or school, they should
find something that
interests them for a lifetime. Hospital teachers have already learned to do this, and I believe that
others will as
well,"
